First shared-use supplement production facility in the United States to open in NC

If you do not live in North Carolina and your dream is to develop and create medicinal herbs and dietary supplements, you might want to consider relocating. It is no secret that the state of North Carolina has not only one of the best cottage food laws in the country, but it now has the only shared use supplement production facility in the U.S.

“The facility will enable the production of bottle, seal and label natural products, including medicinal herbs and dietary supplements, in capsules, tinctures, extracts and creams, with equipment at the facility capable of grinding herbs, preparing herbal extracts, macerating herbal products, and bottle, label and seal product bottles and tubes.”

The 600-square-foot production facility is slated to open in on Monday, October 18 as a new division of Blue Ridge Food Ventures located at the Enka campus of Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College. According to Blue Ridge, this facility is said to comply with allĀ  current federal Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) guidelines, and standards that meet Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requirements for manufacturing, packaging, labeling and holding of dietary supplements.

There is little doubt the facility will peak interested from companies across the U.S. and create a buzz around the creation of similar facilities. For more information visit the Blue Ridge Food Ventures site.
