French Macarons

French Macarons not to be confused with English Macaroons made with coconut are slowly and methodically making their way into bakeries around the country. They have by no means overtaken the cupcake, like I had suggested some months ago, but they are gaining popularity; and why not, these lovely pastel pillows are deliciously moist and if made well melt in your mouth.

What’s in your cake?

CakeLet me start by saying that I am not attacking any commercial bakery or a commercial bakeries ability to sell what they must. I am looking at this from the vantage point of a consumer who has for years, purchased cakes from my local grocer when my energy was low and making a cake from scratch was the least of my priorities.

Ginger Bread BoysEveryone knows the economy is in a nasty state of affairs and depending on where you live in this great nation, shopping trends are truly in the dumpster. It is Black Friday and Cyber Monday that are suppose to be a shoppers saving grace; but what happens  if you don’t have gifting money for all those family members and friends? Give them cookies!

Stuffing or Dressing

Corn Bread DressingWhether you call it “stuffin” or “dressin” is really a matter of where you live;  it’s a regional thing.

Those who live in the south are more apt to call it dressing, while everyone else calls it “stuffin” or if you must “stuffing” and for those outside the south who call it dressing.
