I’ve never been a big Mac & Cheese lover, I can sorta take it or leave it; but when I got the opportunity to judge BBQ at the Time Warner Cable BBQ & Music Festival, and it included judging America’s favorite cheesy, gooey casserole, I was in.

Healthier Food

A recent article on Bakery and snacks.com revealed that we are teaching by association and not really providing meaningful information about food labels. During a study parents were recruited and given possible “front of the box” food claims reporting that a particular cereal, ” ‘supports your child’s immunity’, ‘whole grain’, ‘fiber’, ‘calcium and vitamin D’, ‘organic’.”

Breaking Bread in L’Aquila by Maria Filice

Earlier this year I was sent a cookbook by Maria Filice, the author of Breaking Bread in L’Aquila, a lovely cookbook created after the death of her beloved husband Paul Piccone. All who know me know I am a connoisseur of cookbooks and will literally prepared everything in a book before giving my opinion. This book is not exception. Over the next few weeks I will be preparing a few recipes from Maria’s book. We are going to start with the Bruschetta and end with the Pizzelle, an absolutely lovely Italian waffle cookie.

Street Eats! Starting a Mobile Food Biz

So you want to start a mobile food truck business? Well, before starting your mobile food biz you will need to do quite a bit of homework and ask yourself a few questions. If you have never seen mobile food trucks in your community, there is probably a reason for that; they may not be allowed.

Does your city/town allow mobile food trucks? Do you know where to go to get that information?

If you live in a home-based baking/food processing state, where you can bake from home and sell to the public, you’ll need to see if that is allowed or if you will need to produce your products in a licensed commercial kitchen.
